6+ | Hand Massage
Turn on soothing music. Using moisturizing cream or the essential oil, gently massage your baby’s hand. Start at her wrist line and make small circles along her palm with your thumbs. Next rub each of your baby’s fingers from the base to the tip and massage their fingertips for a few seconds. Bring your baby's hand to their nose and have them take a deep breath in. If your baby is calm, you can do the same on the second hand.
Massage at any age is a simple and accessible way to promote relaxation through sensory stimulation. It has been shown to increase feel-good neurotransmitters in the brain — such as dopamine and serotonin — and can promote sleep, improve overall well being, and foster a connection between baby and caregiver.
