Planning to use cloth diapers?
Go, you!
Incorporating even one cloth diaper change a day has a positive impact on your baby’s health and the environment.
Here are tried-and-true washing tips, whether you’re cloth diapering exclusively and dealing with multiple soiled diapers a day or combo diapering with a few cloth diapers a week.
Scenario #1: Cloth diaper soiled with pee
-
This isn’t so bad! Rinse Our Cloth diaper in the sink, as needed.
-
Store the diaper in a waterproof wet bag, or toss it in with the rest of your laundry.
Scenario #2: Cloth diaper soiled with poop
-
Carefully scoop poop into the toilet and/or rinse the diaper in the sink.
-
Throw the diaper in a waterproof wet bag. Wash immediately in the case of a poo-nami.
Cloth diaper washing 101
-
Wash every 2-3 days to prevent staining and household odors.
-
Pro tip: UV rays are a natural disinfectant and bleach, so laying diapers out in the sun can help remove stains.
-
Run a prewash cycle: on a warm, short cycle (around 15 minutes) with a gentle detergent, like Our Laundry Detergent Concentrate.
-
Run a full cycle: on a warm, long cycle with a gentle detergent.
-
Drying: Air dry or run in the dryer on a low, long cycle. Our Wool Dryer Balls can reduce drying time.
What about swim diapers?
Good question! You can wash Our Swim Diaper just like you would a cloth diaper.
